Happy Friday,
Last week, I presented at Product Marketing Alliance NYC on what the top 1% of SaaS companies do differently with their interactive demos.
I decided to end with something risky: a live interactive demo review from the audience.
I had zero idea if anyone would volunteer their demo on the spot in front of a room full of peers. I originally built the presentation as a workshop, so I thought, why not try it.
We ended up getting 5 submissions.
Even better than the submissions was the feedback I got from attendees:
It felt like a 2-way conversation, not a monologue
Workshopping live showed expertise better than claiming it
They remembered it more because they participated, not just watched
Someone even came up to me after and asked for live feedback.
I used to put so much pressure on presentations being polished. But audiences will forgive rough edges if you think about their perspective. They’ve sat all day, absorbed hours of content, and are just waiting for a coffee or a sweet treat break.
Want to see the full presentation? See my PMA slides.
Think less about what you say and more about how to get the audience to speak up.
